This research aims to examine the impact of university education in the Cajamarca region, focusing on the development of professional skills and competencies to meet the expectations of youth and facilitate their immediate integration into a dynamically changing job market during the 2022-2023 period. The methodology employed combines the deductive hypothetical method with statistical and historical approaches. The theoretical framework is grounded in aspects related to university education, competency development, and the employment of graduating youth. The findings reveal that the four licensed universities in the region offer training in traditional careers with minimal variation based on the demands of the job market. Automation in public and private institutions negatively affects employment access, and SUNEDU indicators have a detrimental impact on Cajamarca's universities. Regarding automation, progress is slow in the agricultural and industrial sectors, though significant advancements are noted in the mining sector. Digitalization in the service sector has advanced, minimally impacting employment opportunities. The conclusion emphasizes the need for comprehensive reforms in the education system, addressing competencies and skills outlined by specialized public and private entities. These reforms should be organic, institutional, and focused on academic and curricular content to adapt to the changing demands of the job market.
