Research lines are crucial elements to guide research in any professional career at an educational institution. Although the Civil Engineering program at the National University of Cajamarca has been in operation since 1963, it has not clearly defined research lines to guide students and faculty. This study compiled various thesis topics defended from 2013 to 2022, aiming to provide guidance for students seeking to graduate. It was determined that the majority of topics focused on the thematic area of Construction (29%), with the Hydraulic area being the least represented (11%). However, in the period from 2019 to 2022, a shift in trend was observed, with 47% of thesis topics centered around the Structural area. This change indicated an evolution in student preferences. Nevertheless, it is noteworthy that, in relation to the number of entrants from 2013 to 2022, the graduation rate was less than 50%, with 1379 entrants and 646 defended theses.
