Organizational culture and its influence on teaching performance in the Administration School of the National University of Cajamarca

Abstract

The research aimed to ascertain the influence of organizational culture on teaching performance in the Academic Professional School of Administration at the National University of Cajamarca during the 2019 - I and II semesters. The study population comprised 11 teachers and 485 student cases for the 2019 - I semester, and 13 teachers and 512 student cases for the 2019 - II semester, with complete survey responses from both genders. The research utilized two main instruments: Dr. Denison's Organizational Culture Diagnosis Questionnaire, adapted to the specific context, containing twenty-nine (29) items focused on understanding the culture of the teachers, and a Teacher Performance Evaluation Questionnaire alongside a Likert-type scale with twenty-five (25) items each for assessing teaching performance during both semesters of the 2019 period. The methodology consisted of initial assessments of structure and internal consistency of the validated instruments using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient, followed by a descriptive data analysis involving the creation of frequency tables and overall percentages. The statistical analysis for the 2019 - I semester revealed a moderately positive correlation (r = 0.475) between organizational culture and teaching performance, whereas the results from the statistical analysis of the 2019 - II semester indicated a very low positive correlation (r = 0.107) between organizational culture and teaching performance. Consequently, the present research concludes that organizational culture exerts a positive influence on the performance of teachers in the Academic Professional School of Administration at the National University of Cajamarca.
