Cardiovascular risk in family medicine residents

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality in Mexico. This study analyzes cardiovascular risk in Family Medicine residents, a vulnerable group due to their work and academic conditions. Methods. Traditional risk factors were assessed, and validated risk assessments were used. Results. The study included 32 residents. The most important cardiovascular risk factors were smoking, high blood pressure, and dyslipidemia. According to the Framingham scale, 100% of the residents had a low cardiovascular risk. Conclusion. Comprehensive strategies for promoting healthy lifestyles and stress management are recommended for this population.
