Clinical staging in the initial diagnosis ofuterine cervical cancer in patients in a hospitalin northern Peru, in the period 2019-2023

Objective: To determine the clinical stage in the initial diagnosis of cervical cancer in patients treated at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Cajamarca during the period 2019-2023. Methods: An observational and descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted, analyzing the clinical records of patients diagnosed during the aforementioned period. The methodology included the collection and analysis of data on clinical stages at the time of diagnosis, classified according to FIGO criteria. Results: 251 patients diagnosed with cervical cancer were found in the records, 18% were stage IV, 15% were stage 0 and 14% were stage IIB. Conclusion: The most frequent clinical stage was stage IV. In addition, the incidence of cervical cancer in the years 2019, 2020, 2021, 2021, 2022 and 2023 was 6.8, 4.5, 6.3, 8.9 and 6.9 per 100,000 people respectively.
