Anthropometric factor and sedentary lifestyle in seventh cycle medical students of the National University of Cajamarca in 2024

Objective: To determine if there is a significant relationship between the anthropometric factor and sedentary lifestyle in students of Human Medicine of the National University of Cajamarca in the year 2024. Material and Methods: The type of study was quantitative, cross-sectional and correlational. Fifty-one students were evaluated; they were selected by convenience sampling and a significant p < 0.05. Results: a significant relationship was found in the association of the variables anthropometric factor and sedentary lifestyle with a significant correlation of (p=0.0160). In addition, no relationship was found between sex and sedentary lifestyle, with a correlation of (p=0.2259). Likewise, it was found that men have a greater tendency to be sedentary compared to women, however, the difference in their values is not large. Regarding Body Mass Index, it was found that normopeso or healthy weight is the most frequent with 65%, followed by overweight with 33%. Conclusion: The anthropometric factor variable is significantly related to sedentary lifestyle, but not the sex variable. In addition, the male sex has lower levels of physical activity than the female sex. Finally, overweight represents 33% of the total BMI respondents.
