Abstract

The present research delimits and characterizes Peruvian universities in the global concert of university ranking, stablishing or pointing out the position of Peruvian universities in the Ibero-American ranking, Latin-American ranking and in the national rankings and how are they positioned in the conditions of the licensing process implemented by SUNEDU (Superintendencia Nacional de Educación Superior), allowing us to evidence in a general way how are we as a university and, most importantly, how we assume it in its management. With this research it is evidenced that in the licensing of Peruvian universities and international rankings in general, we have not improved in the rankings; in addition, the location of Peruvian universities in international rankings is characterized. At the end of the licensing process, the total of universities that managed to obtain it are 92, of which there are 5, between public and private universities, that have obtained the operating license for 10 years, 6 universities of the same condition that have obtained the license for 8 years and finally 81 universities that have obtained the operating license for 6 years. This means that the quality levels in Peruvian universities are quite different, with 2 well-defined blocks: the minority one made up of 11 of the 92 universities and which shows very acceptable quality conditions, and the other block of 81 universities that logically show lower quality levels and in which all universities are not standardized.
