Abstract

The objectives are to know the geological and geomorphological characteristics of the Urubamba creek, to know the type of lithological material most susceptible to the removal of rock masses and soils found in the creek and to determine the risk areas due to movements of rock and soil masses. The materials used were: INGEMMET national geological chart, scale 1: 100,000, sheet 15-f, GPS, magnifying glass, hydrochloric acid, camera, palana, pillory, notebook with field format. The investigation was developed in four stages. The length of the prospected stream is 3.84 km. It includes the Farrat, Chulec, Pariatambo, Yumagual formations, partially Paleogeno / Neogenous, Volcanic Huambos and alluvial Quaternary, with three geomorphological units: fluvial valley, steep mountain slope and hillside of strongly steep mountain. The development of the stream through its entire length presents four types of lithology; At the beginning of their formation, they are sedimentary rocks of the Lower Cretaceous, volcanic rocks of the Neogene Paleogene of the Huambos Volcanic and in the flat part deposits of the Quaternary. The geomorphological units correspond to fluvial valley, steep mountain slope and strongly steep mountain slope and the active geodynamic processes are mainly found in sedimentary rocks which are very edafized. Landslides are frequent in the sedimentary rocks of the formations already described, this causes temporary movements throughout the entire route and movements are favored when there are climatic anomalies.
