Abstract

The non-metallic mining industry is of utmost importance in the economic and industrial development of Peru. In Cajamarca there is a lot of demand for sand for the use of construction materials. In the city of Celendín located NE of the city of Cajamarca, extensive outcrops of sandstones from the Goyllarisquizga Group of lower Cretaceous age are observed and which, due to the chemical and macroscopic results obtained, indicate that they have favorable conditions to be exploited for sand. On the other hand, the proximity of these outcrops to the main road would reduce the transportation costs of the extracted material, taken to storage centers and subsequent sale.
